For over a decade I've been certain that one of the reasons I'm on this earth is to grow food for myself, my family, and my community. A gardening hobby that grew into an obsession with permaculture and regenerative agriculture is now morphing into my life's work.
Orenda Pastures is a 25-acre regenerative, human-scale agricultural project built on a Bitcoin standard. Combining elements of intensive multi-species rotational grazing, integrated silvopasture and agroforestry, low-tech mushroom cultivation, and edible plant nursery, the project is designed to create both abundant food systems and a viable farm business.
The word "orenda" (oren-da) comes from the Iroquois and means "invisible magic power believed to pervade all natural objects as a spiritual energy." It's the perfect word to describe the magical intersection of regenerative agriculture and sound money. By operating the farm on a Bitcoin standard, we can save the value we create for society in the best money ever discovered and more easily move that value across time and space in a regenerative manner.
Progress has been slow but steady. Construction of the pole barn, which will serve as both living quarters and primary farm infrastructure, is nearly complete. The first agroforestry plantings will happen in the fall of 2026. We aim to have our first full growing season in 2027, God willing.
I'm building this with my dad. He plans to retire here and spend his golden years moving around animals and tinkering with his many toys. My hope for the land is to create a place where family, friends, and strangers will want to come to enjoy nature, eat highly nutritious local food, and build community.
